Monday, June 11, Thana City C.C. – Stableford
1st Neil Carter (11) 38pts

Today was the first time the beautiful Thana City Country Club appeared on the Bunker Boys golf schedule and it didn’t disappoint. The course fee and distance may have put off a few regulars, nevertheless eleven players (a good number for low season) made the ninety-minute journey and enjoyed a special golf course in fine condition with the exception of the greens, which had recently been cored and sanded and proved tricky to putt on.
A stiff breeze also played a part in the challenge offered by the course but otherwise the day was hot at times and pleasant at others.
Neil Carter, who has been in fine form lately, continued on his merry way by taking first place with a score of thirty-eight points. Second went to Keith Hemmings with thirty-five points but he had an indifferent day with the putter, sinking some very long putts and also missing some easy short ones. Third spot was occupied by Tony Robbins, his first appearance in the winner’s circle since his return after a long layoff.
Near pins went to Keith Hemmings and two to Neil Carter.
Wednesday, June 13, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford
1st Steve Durey (21) 38pts
2nd Geoff Parker (13) 37pts
3rd Neil Carter (12) 35pts
This was a rare visit to our closest course Pattaya Country Club for our mid-week game where a round dozen took part. The course was a bit shabby, possibly because of torrential overnight rain and strong winds but apart from being littered with leaves and tree branches it was ok. The pick, clean, and place rule was implemented due to the weather but as it turned out was rarely needed.
We had a slower than expected round due to a tardy group out ahead of us, not what is expected in low season.
Enjoying a rich vein of recent good form, Steve Durey took first place with a fine round of thirty-eight points. One stroke back Geoff Parker took second and Neil Carter rounded out the top three with thirty-five points.
Near pins went to Frank Quinlan, Steve Durey, and two to Neil Carter.
The general consensus was that even at today’s lower all in fee, this course is still overpriced for what is on offer, so it may be some time before we return.
Friday, June 15, Bangpra – Stableford
1st Les Hall (24) 36pts
2nd Peter Allen (32) 31pts
3rd Steve Durey (21) 31pts
4th Michael Brett (15) 31pts
Twelve seems to be our most common low season number as it was again today for the last game of the week at Bangpra. Unlike many days recently the weather was fine and sunny and the course in its usual good condition. Unusually there were no monkeys except for those with clubs in hand. The speed of play was pedestrian at best with our lead group held up by a very slow three-ball.
After some very good scores in recent times today they were bang average, the exception being Les Hall who took first place with thirty-six points. Three players all ended up with thirty-one and had to be separated by countback with the diminutive Peter Allen taking second place and the not so diminutive Steve Durey in third.
Newcomer Craig Dows took two near pins and a third went to Michael Brett, with the fourth unclaimed.
