Banglamung officials distributed aid to poor students at five Pattaya-area schools.

District Chief Naris Niramaiwong accompanied by staff, community leaders and soldiers, handed out the packages of food and household staples at Mabprachan, Wat Sawang Arom, Huay Kai Nao, Baan Pongsaket and Rong Heeb schools. Twenty-five students at each school received aid.

Naris said the recipients were chosen from a survey of district schools with aid going first to those most in need. However, he said, there are more poor students at those and other schools, so the district will make additional visits this year.

He said the aid packages of food, drinking water and household items were funded by Banglamung’s social-welfare budget. The education budget also has a provision for scholarships, which will be handed out later.
