District Chief Naris Niramaiwong led about 3,000 civil servants, police, soldiers and students in the pledges June 26.

Participants afterward perused exhibits illustrating various programs focusing on drug-prevention, suppression and rehabilitation. They then joined a parade through the city.

The event was organized in compliance with a United Nations General Assembly resolution from 1987 to observe annually June 26 as International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Thailand has worked intensely with the international community to campaign against drugs. In 2018, the campaign also aimed to pay homage to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun by pledging to not get involved with drugs.
