Pongsak said the media is like a mirror that reflects truth and information to the people and, thus, media organizations must have a strong moral center and carry important responsibilities. The Pattaya Mail group, which has won the award more times than any other area media outlet, consistently produces the ‘highest-quality’ content, he said.

Pratheep Malhotra ‘Peter’ MD of the Pattaya Mail Media Group said, “The award is truly a prestigious one and I thank my editors and reporters for their commitment and hard work throughout the past 18 years. Our company is like a large home and all those who work here are members of our warm close-knit family. I owe all the successes of our media group to each and every one of them.

“Our commitment to our readers and viewers is to continue to work even harder to maintain the high standards of our newspapers and TV program for many years to come.”

In other awards, the Khao Phunam, Chonburi Thongthin and Siang Saree newspapers were also commended for their coverage. Visal Saengjaroen of Channel 7 won best photographer in biographical news, Noppadol Thongmak from Channel 3 and Manop Kankhajondet of Channel 9 won best television press.
