Deputy Gov. Chanchai Eimcharoen opened the July 17 seminar at the provincial hall that revived the Health Ministry’s 2014 campaign against non-biodegradable containers.

Thailand, one of the world’s largest polluters of the oceans, is under pressure to stop use of plastic bags and straws and, particularly, Styrofoam food containers.

Vendors were urged to move to natural materials and stop the use of plastic and foam products.
