The general public can now exchange cash for new 500-baht and 1,000-baht banknotes at commercial banks.
Many people queued up at the Government Savings Bank’s branch at the Marketing Organization for Farmers to exchange their cash for the new 500 and 1,000 baht banknote design featuring a portrait of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.
The bank has prepared 1,500,000 baht in cash worth of the new banknotes to be exchanged daily. It is expected many people will exchange money to obtain the new notes during the long weekend holiday.
The new 500-baht and 1,000-baht banknote designs are the 17th edition, and were approved for legal payments from 28th July 2018, which marks His Majesty the King’s birthday anniversary.
