Walkers and runners turned out in droves last weekend to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.
A special walk-run event was held in Chonburi city starting from outside the Governor’s House and featured a 10-km mini-marathon and a 3-km fun run. Runners were separated into various age and gender related brackets and the top three in each group were awarded prizes to go along with commemorative medals.
Chonburi Governor Pakarathorn Thienchai was on hand at 4am Sunday morning to set the runners on their way, one day after His Majesty the King officially celebrated his 66th birthday. It is estimated that up to 10,000 citizens took part in the event to celebrate the occasion and pay respects to the Thai monarch.
