Chonburi has launched an update to the fire-prevention plan for the aging provincial hall.

Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department chief Siwakorn Buapong chaired the Aug. 15 meeting to begin revising the Fire Protection and Emergency Response Plan for the administration building, which opened in 1967.

Siwakorn said that the building is now 50 years old and is made of wood with concrete. Deterioration of equipment and tools, combined with neglect, increases the risk of fire.

The revamp of the fire plan will increase safety for people working in and visiting the provincial hall, he said.

The process began with determining roles of organizations and officers to systematically carry out fire protection and control procedures to make coordination between organizations efficient.

The meeting also aimed to raise awareness of dangers of fire to those working in the building.
