Pattaya continued to dredge and clean sewers, and collect garbage blocking them to mitigate flooding.
After heavy rainfall across the East, drainage in some parts of Chonburi and Pattaya City was not smooth, resulting in flooding and traffic jams on many main roads.
Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome assigned the Sanitation Department to send workers, equipment and vehicles to all spots having problems to be ready to help people.
From November 19-23, the department upgraded clarifiers and repaired sewer lids in six areas from Soi Khopai 4/7 to South Road to Soi Chaiyapruek to the Pattaya Floating Market.
They also cleaned waterspouts and sewers in Naklua New Market, welded steel mesh lids at the 80-rai Wastewater Treatment Plant, dredged drains on Soi Chalermprakiat 21 and Beach Road, built a culvert on Soi Najomtien 2, and opened additional drainage channels on Naklua Road inside the Pikplub Pumping Station.
Lids and gates also were cleaned on Soi Khao Talo in front of Rachawadee Village and Diamond Market, and clogged drains were freed in a half-dozen spots.
