The Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB), regarded as the largest worldwide live music competition and community for bands playing their own songs is coming to Thailand.  GBOB has played a significant role during the past 8 years in inspiring young national artists around the world to compete with their peers on the world stage, and providing a platform for them to be internationally recognized.

National band ’battles’ commenced in Phuket on March 15, at the H2O, and will be followed by contests in Pattaya on March 30 at Central Festival, Chiang Mai on April 27 at Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport and Bangkok on May 11 at the CentralWorld.  Winners from each of these regional contests will vie for the grand prize at a National Finals concert to be held at CentralWorld Plaza in Bangkok on June 15.

The grand prize consists of 100,000 Baht in cash, music equipment worth 100,000 Baht, 2 days/1 night recording time at the state-of-the-art ‘Karma Sound Studio’ owned by world famous music industry guru, Chris Cracker, in Chonburi, a GBOB World trophy and free tickets and accommodation to represent Thailand at the 2013 GBOB World Finals.

Winners of the regional contests will be presented with 25,000 Baht in cash or in music equipment, while the 2nd prize winners will receive 10,000 Baht in cash or in music equipment.  Both first and second band winners will also receive a complimentary package to enable them to compete in the National Finals in Bangkok on June 15.

Bands regardless of age, music genre or professional standing are eligible to compete, but they must play and sing their own original songs LIVE.  Interested aspiring bands may contact Khun Siripoom Boonmamuang at Punkzmedia Co., Ltd.
