Pattaya officials honored more than 4,000 area school teachers and educational administrators at the Teacher’s Day celebration inside the National Indoor Sports Area.

The Jan. 16 ceremony honored teachers from the city’s 11 public schools, private institutions and day care centers. Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome lit candles and incense and gave way to 50 monks who collected alms.

Deputy mayors Poramet Ngampichet and Pattana Boonsawat followed with award presentations to outstanding teachers.

Noppasitcha Na Nakorn, director of educational promotion, delivered the annual report to the gathering.
