Bangkok – The Tourism and Sports Minister, Weerasak Kowsurat, said a large number of foreign tourists, including those from China and the ASEAN member countries, celebrated the Chinese New Year in Thailand this year.
According to a survey, Thailand was the top destination among Chinese tourists who traveled to celebrate this annual festival last weekend.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organized Chinese New Year celebration activities in 16 major and second-tier cities to reduce congestion in key locations and evenly distribute revenue to the locals.
The TAT estimates that this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations will have generated about 24 billion baht in tourism revenue.
