BANGKOK, 14 April 2013 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has made her wish for the happiness of Thai people on the occasion of the traditional Thai New Year while also urging them to help conserve the tradition of Songkran.
Speaking during the weekly ‘Prime Minister Yingluck Meets the People Program’, the Prime Minister called on Thais to conserve the traditional and unique ways of Songkran and make the most of the long holiday with their families.
The Prime Minister also thanked Thai people after a recent poll revealed that the majority of them would want to ‘Rod Nam Dam Hua’ or pour scented water on her in a traditional show of respect, and to closely celebrate the event with her the most.
Meanwhile, Culture Minister Sontaya Kunplome invited the people to participate in the Thai-Lanna Songkran festival that his ministry is hosting at Siam Square area in Bangkok, during April 13-15 which aims to promote creative Songkran celebrations.
