Bangkok – According to an opinion survey conducted by Suan Dusit Poll on the current Songkran festivities, a majority or 68.62 percent of respondents mentioned road accidents as the main point of concern, followed by the economic situation and the high consumption of liquor.
On the occasion of the Thai New Year, 48.88 percent wished for success, happiness and prosperity for their families. The respondents also hoped for a better economy and business performance. Other wished for peace and unity in the country.
Asked to name politicians they wanted to meet for the water-sprinkling ceremony this year, Prime Minister Prayut came out on top with 34.51 percent, followed by the leader of the Future Forward Party, Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit.
On people’s expenses during Songkran, 47.76 percent said their outlay would remain unchanged when compared to last year’s spending. However, 30.64 percent said they would reduce their spending, and 21.64 percent said their expenses would increase.
