IPGC golf from Tara Court & The Links

Sunday, April 21, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

Today we joined up with our friends from The Links to play at Green Valley.  As the numbers are down now that the low season is here, we will both be joining up for our usual Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday games until next high season, so we will have enough players to make up a good competition.

A hot day today and the greens had been pole forked and sanded but it didn’t stop some of our players coming in with very good scores.  Joe McArdle probably thought he had done enough to win with his 38pts but he didn’t even make the prizes.  Keith Wolley was the man who beat Joe on a count back with 19 on the back nine.  Also Brian Talbot probably thought he had done enough to win as he had 40pts but he was beaten into second place on count back by Rick Holmes who had an excellent 22pts on the back nine.

Brian and Rick shared the ‘2’s pot with one each.

1st Rick Holmes (15) 40pts

2nd Brian Talbot (12) 40pts

3rd Keith Wolley (13) 38pts

Tuesday, April 23, Bangpra (white tees) – Stableford

It was Bangpra today for another hot day’s golf and another long course off the white tees.  A lot of the tees were actually placed way back so the course was over 6,800 yards and playing very long.  Again this was reflected on the scoring and Marty Rock was the winner with 33pts ahead of John Batty just one back in second.

Joe Peters got the only 2 of the day.

1st Marty Rock (11) 33pts

2nd John Batty (10) 32pts

Thursday, April 25, Burapha (blue tees) – Stableford

Today we went to Burapha to play the B and D courses where the Singha Pattaya Open was played the previous week.  The course was in beautiful condition with excellent and very fast greens.  Again a very long course off the blue tees and with a lot of the tees placed behind the actual markers it was over 6,850 yards, which is long.

Probably because of this, again no one managed to play to their handicap, with Joe McArdle being the nearest with 35pts and John Batty was second with 33.

There were four ‘2’s which made the pot small for Joe McArdle, Neil Skilton, John Batty and Phil Mitchell.

1st Joe McArdle (13) 35pts

2nd John Batty (10) 33pts
