Monday, June 24, Laem Chabang – Stableford

A Flight (0-16)

1st Kevin LaBar (13) 44pts

2nd Colin Smith (14) 36pts

3rd Rod Marshall (4) 35pts

4th Les Cobban (6) 35pts

B Flight (17+)

1st Kym Richardson (17) 36pts

2nd Masa Okada (23) 36pts

3rd Colin Service (17) 34pts

4th Bill Stewart (18) 34pts

Scores were generally as we would expect here, in the 30 to 36 points area, particularly as the C course was played. However, the stand-out was Kevin LaBar who scorched around the course with his best ever score of 44 points to be 8 points clear of his closest rivals. Colin Smith returned to form with a handy 36 points for second in “A” flight ahead of three players on 35 points. Rod Marshall won the countback over Les Cobban who in turn took the fourth spot by winning yet another countback.

Kym Richardson, in his second outing this trip, won the countback to take out “B” flight with 36 points to relegate Masa Okada to second place. Colin Service has had a rest and came back firing to score 34 points in a countback over Bill Stewart.

Near-pins went to Tommy Marshall (A2), Klaus Fast (A7), Darren Beavers (C5) James Hudson (C8).

Wednesday, June 26, Royal Lakeside – Stableford

1st Toby Glass (16) 39pts

2nd Nils-Peter Kristensen (20) 37pts

3rd Paul Smith (5) 37pts

4th Kenny Jepson (26) 36pts

5th Phil Davies (12) 36pts

Leading the way in the single flight today was Toby Glass whose 39 points gave him victory and he got to don the Green Jacket, not for the first time. Nils-Peter Kristensen played very well to take out second place with 37 points on a countback against the ever-consistent low handicapper, Paul Smith.

Kenny Jepson did what we always hope, and that is to be inspired enough to go from a “wig” to a prize. He did that with his 36 points to take fourth spot ahead of Phil Davies on a countback.

Near pins were claimed by Petur Petursson (3), Garry Barker (6), Kevin McEntee (12), Maurice Roberts (15).

Friday, June 28, Pattavia – Stableford

A Flight (0-15)

1st Paul Smith (5) 42pts

2nd Phil Davies (12) 37pts

3rd Luca Orsoni (12) 36pts

4th George Mueller (14) 35pts

B Flight (16+)

1st Colm O’Donovan (17) 42pts

2nd Toby Glass (16) 38pts

3rd Donal McGuigan (19) 35pts

4th Nils-Peter Kristensen (20) 35pts

In scoring 42 stableford points for gross 71, Paul Smith not only won “A” flight convincingly but left the others scratching heads and asking, how? Following on from Paul, second place went to Phil Davies in a return to form with 37 points while Luca Orsoni, who scored 36 points on his debut, took third and George Mueller fourth with 35.

An unusual occurrence saw two scores of 42 points in one round. Colm O’Donovan lifted his game another notch to amass that big score, and fulfill his hope of going down to 16 handicap whilst taking first spot in “B” flight. Toby Glass wore the Green Jacket a couple of days ago and, although 38 points is a winning score most days, he came up against a pair of golfers running hot. Donal McGuigan and Nils-Peter Kristensen fought out a countback for the last two places with Donal having the better back nine, both scoring 35 points.

Near pins went to Luca Orsoni (4), Maurice Roberts (7), Kevin La Bar (13), Paul Smith (17)
