The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission and Thai Transgender Alliance hosted a training session for the media about how to discuss different sexual preferences and lifestyles.

Titiyanan Nukpor, director of the Sisters transgender-rights foundation, welcomed participants to the July 5 workshop at the M Pattaya Hotel.

Jedsads Taesombat, director of Thai Transgender Alliance, and Ronaphum Samakeekarom, a public-health instructor from Thammasat University were lecturers.

Topics covered the background and significance of media coverage of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues and how to create understanding about sexual diversity.

Participants were told that diversity topics should be treated with respect without diminishing the value and dignity of LGBT people.

The groups have created a presentation manual to guide media organizations in creating content that correctly explains gender, sexuality and sexual diversity issues.
