SPECIAL REPORT: The International Visual Artist Association of Thailand has held its 5th Art Exhibition at the National Gallery, showcasing more than 100 pieces of artwork by 57 Thai artists. The art works cover many varieties of themes including nature, human behavior, religion, and abstract.
The opening ceremony, which was held on Friday 10th May, 2013, was presided over by a representative of Minister of Culture Mr. Sontaya Kunplom. Welcome speeches were made by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture and representatives of the Department of Cultural Promotion, as well as the International Visual Artist Association of Thailand.
According to Mr.Somsak Raksuwan, the President of the International Visual Artist Association of Thailand, the formation of the International Visual Artist Association of Thailand, which began from a grouping of 80 Thai artists, has continued to be the central network for Thai artists. The aim of the association is to provide opportunities and inspiration for both well known and new amateur artists to showcase their work and creativity and to develop their skills. The Association also provides financial and medical support to its members, when needed.
The event, which has been held annually for the past 4 years, is considered successful in creating motivation and passing on the Thai artistic passion. The International Visual Artist Association has claimed that the exhibition of selected Thai visual arts continues to develop a stronger potential for Thai modern art in comparison to the international standards. Moreover, it is also beneficial in creating public awareness and raising the value of Thai art.
