Phoenix Gold – Stableford

It was a beautiful day for golf with just 3 groups playing a course in fantastic condition; the greens especially were just great to putt on

The scoring was very good with a countback on 38 points for third place between Gerard Lambert and Sandy Chapo, with Sandy scoring 21 on the back-nine to edge out Gerard. Second place went to Glyn Elsworth with 39 points and Miss Sasicha was top of the tree with a grand 42 points.

There were two 2s, coming from Sasicha and Noddy Moyle.

Wednesday, July 31,
Green Valley – Monthly Medal

42 golfers turned up on the 1st tee to support the Haven Consultants Monthly Medal, sponsored by our long term friend Brian Chapman. A strong wind was an additional problem to overcome and the scores were not overly impressive.

In the ladies competition Miss Noodle (H/cap 12) showed a 7 shot improvement after the turn, the front being upset by an 8 on the par three 8th for a total of net 71 and third place, well behind Miss Prae (40), who had her best score in a long time for second place with a net 67. Miss Sa has never won a Haven Monthly Medal but 4 pars and a birdie on the back nine ensured she secured her trophy on countback over Miss Prae.

Eddie Bielby (17) eagled the par-four 12th to drop only 4 shots on the way home and a net 71, but still 3 shots more than William Peach (20) in third place. Glynn Davies (14) and Wayne Cotterell (15) both finished with a net 67 and 42 shots on the return trip but when looking at the last 6 holes, Cottee’s par on the 16th was the difference between the two and gave him first place. Cottee, who was hitting some obscenely long drives, won his first monthly medal in more than 5 years of trying.

A plethora of 2s came from Paul Hack, Barry Copeskate, Keith Allen, Eddie Bielby, Neil Herd, Sel Wegner, Scott Baymgarton, and two each to both Miss Noodle and Miss Nok.

Friday, August 2,
Burapha – Stableford

The course played today was the C and D loops as the Jackalope Open was being played on A and B. The course was in great condition but played long as usual and when coming down the last two holes it was straight into a howling gale.

It was only a small field of two groups and the scoring was very ordinary but an enjoyable day for the groups. Coming in third place was Micky Beresford with 29 points, second went to Sandy Chapo with 31 and first place was awarded to Andrew Woodall with 32. There were no 2s recorded.
