Bangkok, 29 July 2019 – In Phang Nga province, Bang Phat village community, Bang Toey subdistrict, villagers of the seaside eco-tourism village say the quality of life of people in the community has improved markedly because of the benevolence of His Majesty the King, and the Queen Mother who visited the village in 2001.
It is an impressive image that remains in the memory of the villagers of Bang Phat village, Moo 8, Bang Toei subdistrict, Mueang Phang Nga district. His Majesty the King while holding the royal title of Crown Prince and Her Majesty the Queen visited the village on April 12, 2001. This brought joy to the local villagers. At that time, it was very difficult to visit Bang Phat village. There was no electricity and the villagers were plagued by poverty as they live on an island near Phang Nga Bay.
Mr. Sutthiphong Langlang, the current village headman, and Mr. Sawasdee Waharak, the former village headman, said today the royal visit had brought prosperity to the village, as it has now become a seaside eco-tourism village. Each day, tourists come to eat fresh seafood, stay overnight and buy local products. This has created jobs and prosperity for the people of the village.
