PSC 123rd Monthly Golf Tournament
On this fine Friday morning May 17, there were 96 members competing including 15 ladies and a number of new faces assembled at Pleasant Valley Golf Course for the May PSC monthly tournament. They received the usual warm welcome from PSC Golf Chairman Joe Mooneyham and Social Chairman Nigel Cannon.
The course was in a reasonable condition with a competitive pricing structure for both green fee and carts. It was a 2-tee start which went smoothly despite some local infiltrators which meant some rounds were over the 4 hour mark. The weather was hot and sunny.

As the cards were checked it was clear that a good score was necessary to get a podium place. The low gross winner was Steve Snelgrove (6) with a 76 gross, winning on count back from Bob Newell. It was the same Bob Newell (6) who won ‘A’ Flight with a net 70 from the blue tees.
‘B’ Flight saw the return of Ted Morris (13) taking top spot with the best of the day – 45 points. In ‘C’ flight 44 points from Lewis Szigligeti (18) gave him the win, and John Sheppard (25) with 41 points took ‘D’ Flight honours. Jim Elphick (23) was the Senior winner with 36 points.
With 15 ladies the prizes went to the top 3 in their division with Anna Korboon (10) taking first place with a fine 43 points.
The presentation this month was at the ever-popular Lewiinski’s where Colin Davis and his team provided a truly international buffet which saw many going back for ‘seconds’ that together with excellent drinks service rounded off a great day.
Once all were satisfied Nigel called order, welcomed all and introduced Joe Mooneyham who expressed his appreciation for the support for the day’s tournament and the help from Nigel and William. He also expressed his thanks to the PSC office staff who now assist in the preparatory work prior to the day. Also thanks to Noi Emmerson who sold the draw tickets.
Nigel called the winning names and Joe presented the prizes, with William taking the photos. The lucky draw followed and then the traditional 50/50 draw.
