Police arrested a woman Sept. 16 on suspicion of stealing a batch of t-shirts from a vendor at The Avenue shopping mall in Pattaya. Orawan Cheevachid, 40, from Kampaeng Phet province, was detained by officers after being recognized from CCTV footage that appeared to implicate her in the crime.

T-shirt seller, 52-year old Miss Naiyana (second name unknown), had reported the theft of her merchandise worth 40,000 baht to police on Sept. 14. Officers and the victim studied security camera footage which led to the arrest of the alleged offender two days later.

Orawan initially admitted that she took the t-shirts but said she gave most of them away. She cited her motive for the theft as a dispute between the two parties and said the vendor, Naiyana, always spoke down to her and made her feel resentful. Police processed her at the station and charged her with theft of the missing garments.
