BANGKOK, 4 June 2013 Finance Minister Kittiratt Na Ranong has represented Thailand in the First Meeting of the High-level Experts and Leaders Panelon Water and Disasters(HELP) in Japan to share his experience in handling the impact of the natural disaster and bringing the Thai economy back on track.
HELP, which is organized by the United Nations, is said to be another forum held in continuation of the water management conference in New York in April, although similar content will be discussed more in depth this time.
In his speech, the Finance Minister said, during the flood in 201, Thailand received help from the global community and he would like to take this opportunity to share his experience with other participants and to reveal what rehabilitation plan Thailand took to restore the economy.
Other countries going through a similar ordeal also shared their experiences. The Thai government’s 350 million baht water management projects were brought up during the discussion. The forum also provided insight and knowledge to help those at risk to be prepared for natural disasters and to assure water supply security.
