Five army rangers wounded in Pattani bombing

PATTANI, June 4 – Five paramilitary rangers in a teacher protection unit were wounded in a roadside bombing on Tuesday morning.

The bomb exploded outside the Piyaram temple in Yaring district.

The officials were on patrol to check the route for the safety of teachers, travelling to school.

Meanwhile, in Narathiwat, police and soldiers searched a house in Rueso district and detained a suspect in connection with the bombing which killed former Yala deputy governor Issara Thongthawat last month.

Mahamu Mahataeha, 38, was found to have contacted the group of attackers by a mobile phone.

The suspect denied his involvement in the bombing. He was detained for further questioning. (MCOT online news)
