Prime Minister orders preparations to honorably host ASEAN Summit

Summit and related meetings in November. The prime minister followed up on the preparations being made by various agencies and ordered that road traffic be orderly and not disruptive.

The prime minister chaired a national-level meeting on the preparations for the 35th ASEAN Summit and related meetings scheduled from November 2 to November 4. The meeting also reviewed security measures and accommodation provided for the ASEAN leaders and representatives of international organizations, during their visit.

Government Spokesperson Naruemon Pinyosinwat, said today the prime minister has ordered the orderliness and promptness of travel from airports to the conference venue. Performances during a reception party will be magnificent and will not be too long.

The ASEAN Business and Investment Summit is scheduled for November 2 while the Ministry of Commerce will hold an ASEAN-style Trade Fair. The opening ceremony of the ASEAN Summit is scheduled for November 3. An ASEAN Plus Three Meeting between ASEAN leaders and those of China, Japan and South Korea is scheduled for November 4.

All 10 ASEAN leaders, those of seven trading partner countries, the Secretary General of the United Nations and the President of the International Monetary Fund have confirmed their attendance at the Summit and related meetings. United States President Donald Trump is yet to confirm but the Canadian leader cannot attend due to an internal problem following the latest election in that country.
