Thai Leather Week Mid–Year Sale scheduled for June 21-30

BANGKOK, 7 June 2013 The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), in cooperation with the Thai Leathergoods Association, is hosting the Thai Leather Week Mid–Year Sale 2013 from June 21-30, with an aim to boost the Thai leather industry. 

According to the DITP, Thailand raked in over 17 billion baht in revenue from its leather export in the first 4 months of this year, accounting for the growth of 4.4 percent year-on- year; adding that the leather export industry generated nearly 1.7 billion US dollars, or 50 billion baht, in 2012,

The government has been giving its full support to the leather industry, ranging from brand creation, design, marketing, and promotion,as well as technology and machinery enhancement As a result of the government’s effort, the Thai leather industry has been growing despite the instability of the world economy as its main markets include USA, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, and England, said the DITP; revealing further that the Thai leather exporters are trying to gain a foothold in Denmark and South Korea.

The Thai Leather Week will be held at the Department of International Trade Promotion from June 21-30. The exhibition will be opened from 10 am to 8 pm daily.
