On Sunday, 9th June, after the Service, the congregation of St. George’s celebrated the birthdays of 3 members including Fr. Theo, the Priest-in-Charge. Fr. Bill, one of the associate clergymen who, like Fr. Theo, is a former Orthodox priest, performed a “Many Years’ Ceremony” for them. Later the trio cut a birthday cake which was shared amongst the congregation. During the afternoon tea the congregation discussed which worthy causes should receive a donation and it was decided to donate 20,000 baht to assist a number of needy children who have physical handicaps and special needs. Since the 3 priests work on a voluntary basis all of the collections, after expenses are paid, are used to assist various local people. As well the congregation provides weekly food parcels to some elderly Thais who have no families to support them.
