BANGKOK, 27 June 2013 Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Rong has expressed his confidence that the government’s two-trillion-baht loan will benefit the country’s economy. The loan will also help the economy grow healthily after the projects funded by it are completed.
On 26 June 2013, Mr Kittiratt attended a seminar on the two-trillion-baht loan, saying the loan bill would help prevent the government from borrowing more than two trillion baht in seven years. The loan would be only 1% of the country’s GDP over the period of seven years, the minister said. Mr Kittiratt reiterated that the loan would be favorable to the Thai economy.
Regarding the progress of the loan bill, the minister said it was being reviewed by an ad-hoc committee and expected it to be on the agenda of a House session this August when the House considered the 2014 budget bill, Mr Kittiratt said.
