Volunteers learned how to spot and prevent human-trafficking at a workshop sponsored by the Social Development and Human Security Ministry.
Rungtiwa Suddan, director of technical promotion and support for the ministry’s Chonburi office, led the Nov. 26 seminar at the Banglamung District office. About 100 civil servants and volunteers attended.
The training stressed awareness of the ongoing human-trafficking problem in the province, which is a source, transit area and destination for traffickers and victims.
Ministry officials explained prevention, suppression and victim-protection measures, adding that the government is studying how volunteers can help observe and target trafficking in their areas and form network to provide better communication with authorities.
