BANGKOK – The EC petition was submitted to the Constitutional Court to decide whether the Future Forward Party’s borrowing of 191.2 million baht from party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit may have violated Section 72 of the political party law and thus might lead to the dissolution of the party in accordance with Section 92 and Section 93 of the political party law.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said today if the Constitutional Court ruled to dissolve the party, its MPs can leave for other political parties within a 60-day timeframe. If they resigned from a dissolved party, their MP status would immediately be terminated. The party-list MPs who have been elected for no more than a one-year would be reconsidered by the EC as to whether their MP status would remain intact.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister/Defense Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha commented that police maintained law and order during Saturday’s gathering of supporters of the Future Forward Party, called upon by Mr Thanathorn outside the Bangkok Art and Culture Center. He said he did not given any specific orders to the police.
