Bangkok– The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to inform all international tourists that Wat Arun, or the Temple of Dawn, has started a new visitor entry system from 1 January, 2020.
The temple has three entry and exit points – Mae Phueak Pier, Wat Arun Ferry Pier, and Wang Doem Road. All three locations are now equipped with a new visitor entry system, including a barcode reader and automatic counting machine.
CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the temple to provide upgraded safety and security for all tourists.
From 1 June, 2020, the temple will increase the entrance fee from currently 50 Baht to 100 Baht per person.
Wat Arun is well-known for its majestic 66.8-metre-high pagoda, which is decorated with seashells and bits of Chinese porcelain that glimmer in the sunshine. Under direction from Thailand’s Fine Arts Department, the three-year renovation to secure the base of the pagoda was completed in 2017.
