Monday, January 6 Phoenix Gold Ocean & Mountain Stableford
Playing the two best loops at Phoenix Gold on Monday, Ocean and Mountain, the good part is when playing Ocean first you are warmed up by the time you get to the tougher Mountain loop. Both courses are in great condition with greens that are so consistent and the fairways are just terrific. They are so good that it was impossible to get a bad lie anywhere.
With four teams playing, although the last group was five ball, we got away right on time and were in under four hours.
The scoring was pretty good with 12 out of the 17 players scoring 30 plus points. Barry Lewis, now playing from the silver tees, scored a credible 35 points to take third spot. Yves Magnon, playing to handicap, scored 36 points to take second. Captain Cripple playing his best round in over twelve months took the top spot with 38 points and promptly bought all the players at the bar a few drinks to celebrate.
There were no twos although the Captain had two goes at them.
