BANGKOK, 15 July 2013 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held a meeting for ASEAN ambassadors today to convey the Thai government’s foreign policy, which focuses on fostering economic relations with their respective countries and on Thailand’s readiness to be part of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
According to Foreign Minister Surapong Torvichakchaikul, around 70 ASEAN consulates and ambassadors have been invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to participate in the meeting to be informed of the Thai government’s policy, which pays great attention to consolidating regional relations and promoting investment opportunities before the arrival of the AEC.
The Foreign Minister also stated that Thailand was highly praised during the ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting in Brunei two weeks ago for its effort in raising awareness on ASEAN among Thais. Mr.Surapong added that Thailand would be willing to share its information on ASEAN with other members who wanted to raise public awareness about the regional group.
