BANGKOK — The government opens its information center on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to gather information and complaints related to the disease outbreak.

Visiting the center at Naree Samosorn Building, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said the center would receive information from all local organizations and international sources and forward it to people.

“It is aimed at coping with fake news,” he said.

The center would also receive public complaints related to the disease including the prices of face masks and hand sanitizer and coordinate legal action with concerned agencies, the deputy prime minister said.
Mr Wissanu said that the new center would not duplicate with a COVID-19 emergency medical center of the Public Health Ministry. The health center shared only medical information, he said.

The new center at Government House would have its press conferences daily from 2pm to 3pm. The prime minister, his deputies and ministers would be among officials to hold press conferences there, Mr Wissanu said.

Today’s press conference concerned the establishment of a COVID 2019 fund and illegal workers in South Korea.

People could contact the new information center via tel. 02-288-6070 ext 4 and the 1111 hotline number, Mr Wissanu said.
