At the Sattahip Naval Base the Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen. Songkitti Jaggabatara said all departments are focusing on looking after 15,000 villagers at safe refuges in Surin and Buriram that have been affected by the clashes on the border.

Most of them were moved from the Thai Santisukh village, the village closest to the gunfire zone to a safer neighborhood.

The crossfire between Thai and Cambodian soldiers was seen along the border last weekend. The supreme commander said our troops are standing by 24 hours a day.

Nevertheless the commander said our soldiers were resolute to protect and conserve the soil of the kingdom and will not hesitate to disarm and push the enemy away from the border or fight back if necessary.
