Solid golf from Edwards

The Pattaya Golf Society (IPGC) at Rabbi’s Elephant Bar

The Pattaya Golf Society visited Bangpra on Monday, 29th July, to play its monthly medal round and found the course in superb condition with carpeted fairways and splendidly paced greens.  The day remained cloudy but stayed dry and playing conditions were very comfortable.

From the start the course played quite long as the recent storms had softened the fairways, limiting the amount of run but the long hitters in the field benefitted.  In second place were Craig Thomas, currently leading the “Player of the Month” lists and a rejuvenated Mr Len with net 76.  The winner was Dave Edwards who showed the benefits of sound coaching, with net 73.

The non-winners beer draw was won by new member Steve Wright and the only birdie of the day came on the second when Peter Sanderson put his tee shot within six feet of the hole and mailed the putt with aplomb.  He also took the Booby Bevy after his front nine of level par descended into golf gloom, dropping thirteen shots on the back nine.  Never mind Peter, things will be better when you return in October and Bangpra will certainly be on the list.

The wait is over

Friday, 2nd August saw the Pattaya Golf Society visit Mountain Shadow for a stableford competition off the blue tees and found the course in excellent condition throughout with well paced greens.

A constant breeze made golf comfortable and Masanori Takano was certainly enjoying his round after nine holes when he lay level par.  He was to fold over the back nine and finish on thirty points.

Elsewhere in the field Mr Len was more than holding his own after a drab front nine and he moved into turbo mode finishing with a one under back nine.  This gave him 31 points for the win he has been chasing for more than eight months whilst he battled with various medical problems.  The end of the tunnel is now in sight after this excellent effort.

There were no birdie ‘2’s and Masa received the Booby Bevy for his decline during the round whilst the non-winners beer went to John O’Sullivan just before he returns to UK.

Now Rabbi, try and hold the golf geezer back over the next few weeks!
