Students and adults took home nearly 100,000 in prizes as they hit the sand for the Pattaya Beach Volleyball Open.
City Councilman Praiwan Arromchuen handed out the cash awards at the close of the Aug. 1-4 tournament that featured contestants from the Royal Thai Navy, area schools and residents from around the country.
Pattaya City official Thongchai Aajsrong presents the winning trophy to the victorious Qatar Club male team.
Prizes were handed out for male, female and under-18 student categories.
The top two finishers in the men’s category were from the Qatar Club, which took home 15,000 baht for first place and 10,000 baht for second. Two Navy Club teams won third and fourth, winning 7,000 baht and 5,000 baht, respectively.
Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University took first prize in the ladies event.
The same prize amounts were awarded in the women’s group, which saw Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University place first, Nongsuavittayakhom School take second, the Samut Sakhorn Team take third and Bangkok Sports School fourth.
Among students, Benjaromratchuthit Chanthaburi School won the 10,000 baht first-place prize, Volleyball Club of Pattaya won 7,000 baht for second, Pattaya School No. 11 took 5,000 baht for third and another Volleyball Club of Pattaya team won fourth and 2,000 baht.
