CHONBURI (NNT) – Temples in Thailand have set up canteens to distribute food to those affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Samakkhi Banphot Temple or Bang Sarae Nok Temple has cooperated with the Sattahip District Red Cross Chapter to distribute food and beverages to people affected by the Covid-19 outbreak in response to the patriarch’s wish to set up canteens to supply food and needed items according to hygiene principles, in order to alleviate the suffering of affected people.

In Chiang Mai, people line up to receive packed lunches distributed by Chedi Luang Worawihan Temple. Four hundred boxes are distributed to people affected by the Covid-19 outbreak twice a day. Everyone has to go through a screening point for temperature measurement, wash their hands with alcohol gel and go through the sterilizing tunnel. They also have to stay apart from each other by at least one meter, in line with the measure to prevent the spread of germs. The temple plans to distribute packed lunches every day until the situation improves.

There are also many other temples in Chiang Mai which distribute food. A large number of people queue up to receive food each day.(NNT)
