The last day of the monthly Super League started with 5 teams potentially in with a chance of taking third spot in the standings: Sue and Pukky were already on 8 points in third but the pack was chasing.

Bank and Yuppa were in the unfortunate position of having to play 54 ends of bowls – nearly 5 hours – as a catch up but stepped up to play Dave and Ian in the first match which was almost over from the very first end when Dave let six shots slip away!  At this level you cannot afford to give that many shots away on one end and the result was an 18-13 win for Bank and Yuppa who then came up against tournament favourites Tan and Noom and were blown 17-9.

Then came the battle of the girls as Lek and Thanom – already guaranteed at least runners up spot – took on Coco’s Sue and Pukky who were trying to secure 3rd place.  There were no suggestions of any foul play or gamesmanship here and the match went to 12-12 with three ends to go when Lek and Thanom pulled out 4 shots and went on to win 18-15.

These three results meant no chasing team could get the magic 10 points to take third place on their own without a count back.  Ken and Harvey were plodding away but their bowl difference was never going to be enough.  So it was left to Bus and Go versus Bank and Yuppa to settle it; a win for Bank would leave Sue and Pukky with 3rd spot but Bus and Go had other ideas squeezing out a 22-19 grinding win to take the coveted 3rd spot on bowl difference with 4 teams on 8 points.

So it was Tan and Noom who were crowned the winners of the first Inter Super League Pairs Cups from the Lawn Bowls Association of Thailand and received the 10,000 baht first prize.  Lek and Thanom finished as runners up with 8,000 baht and trophies from The Huay Yai Police Commissioner, and Bus and Go took third with Coco Club trophies and 6,000 baht.

The Hua Hin girls, Inn and Oiw, who travelled nearly 800km round trip each week to play in a league which will give them some superb experience, were deservedly given the Coco Club Sportmanship Award.

The evening was concluded with presentations by General Petchpanom Parochai – Secretary General of the Lawn Bowls Association of Thailand followed by a buffet and music.
