At the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, M.D., CCSA Spokesperson, responded to the media questions, gist of which is as follows:
CCSA Spokesperson disclosed the reason why Thai-traditional massage parlors could be opened, as a result of 3rd phase lockdown easing, but facial massage will still be banned that the decision was made based on the issues of service time and skill of the masseurs. In the case of beauty parlors, there are medical workers who have been properly and technically trained for service provision to ensure client’s safety, while Thai-traditional massage requires direct physical contact, and longer service time, so it is more susceptible to COVID-19.
CCSA Spokesperson also clarified about Songkran-substitute holidays, possibly in July, that consideration for further lockdown easing, including revocation of the Emergency Decree, will be made based on COVID-19 situation in June and the success of the 3rd phase lockdown easing, as well as public cooperation to keep their guards up in a bid to prevent the 2nd wave of the disease.
With regard to the 3 Royal Decrees, namely, 1) Royal Decree authorizing Ministry of Finance to seek loan for economic and social problem solving, remedy, and rehabilitation as a result of spread of COVID-19, B.E. 2563 (1-trillion Baht Loan), 2) Royal Decree on provision of financial assistance to SMEs who have been impacted by spread of COVID-19, B.E. 2563 (50 billion Baht in budget), and 3) Royal Decree on stabilization of national economy and financial system, B.E. 2563 (40 billion Baht in budget), which have been voted in favor of by the House of Representatives, CCSA Spokesperson affirmed that the budget will be cost-effectively spent for the best interest of the country and people.
Lastly, he emphasized the importance to continue observing personal hygiene practices, i.e., washing hands wearing mask, and social distancing, and called on all entrepreneurs and service providers to conform to the practices, plus regular cleaning, in accordance with the New Normal in order for Thailand to be free from COVID-19.
