After winning the scramble at Khao Kheow last month, Jimmy Dundon has been playing some of his best golf recently. Today was no exception and Dundon once again played the best of a field of 20 and was also the only golfer to shoot his handicap. He is down to a 15 handicap now and he is still able to deliver the clutch shots as required. Great shootin’ Jim!
Muffy Kerr (you know, Ty and Jason’s Dad!) was dressed in his usual spectacular Loudmouth fashion and came away a shot behind with 35 on the card for sole second. The famous Scotsman Henry O’Brien who is also no stranger to the podium took third yet another shot behind with 34 to complete the trio of champions.

Time for a road trip and at 08:30 Wednesday morning we all piled into the van to take the 2 hour 15 minute drive up the 331 to Kabinburi. This is a great destination for an overnighter as the golf course has really improved over the last 4 years and the hotel, of course, is superb. Those of us who brought a guest were treated to a 1-bed suite room upgrade. Thanks Kantary!
It was a bit wet underfoot, but that is to be expected anywhere in Thailand and will remain that way for the next 4-5 weeks I am sure. The golf course was in great condition so the first day we played off the yellow tees and at just over 6,200 yards it was about right. We had a rain delay for about 30 minutes which cooled things off and cleared away for the rest of the round.
There was one guy who had a great round of 40 stableford points, and that was Vincent Gras. In those wet conditions, that is a fine round of golf that deserves a win. But golf is a cruel game, and just when you think all is good, there is someone else who has had an even better day. With an astonishing 43 points and playing off 20, Hal Hart was the man of the trip as he and his moustache walked away with the gold.
After the round, we headed back to the Kantary Hotel where the lads were treated to a free-flow wine and cheese party by the poolside as some had a swim and others had a Jacuzzi to pound out those worn out muscles. It was a great atmosphere and a relaxing break from our hectic lifestyle in Pattaya.

The next morning we headed back to the golf course, which is just 12 clicks down the 33 for the second round of the journey. Some of the boys hit the white tees, and at 6652 yards, it was Billy “the Kid” Gneiting who prevailed with 37 points on the card while Masao “Ishi” Ishikawa took first place in the yellow tee gang.
