Several historical sites inundated

BANGKOK, 24 September 2013 The Fine Arts Department reports that many historical sites in the central region have been submerged, with six other sites still at risk of flooding. 

Director-General of the Fine Arts Department Anek Sihamart said a number of historical sites in the central provinces, most of them temples and pagodas, had been affected by floods. He added that the department was keeping a close watch on six other sites in Samut Prakan, Phetchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi and Samut Sakhon.

However, according to the department’s survey, no historical sites in other regions of the country have been inundated.

The submerged historical sites include Wat Pa Lelai Temple in Nonthaburi, Wat Phra Si Rattanamahathat Temple in Suphan Buri and Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park in Kamphaeng Phet.
