BANGKOK, 2 October 2013 – Typhoon Wutip has weakened into a low pressure cell earlier than expected, although this will contribute to heavy rain in the North instead of the Northeast.
Wutip, which reached Thailand as a depression, weakened into a low pressure cell covering the northern region on the evening of Tuesday. According to the weather bureau, those residing in Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun should take caution against heavy raining during this period.
The weather bureau also indicated that the lower central region, the eastern region and the upper southern region will experience increased rainfall during October 2-6.
Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Surasawadi, as chairman of the flood and water management committee, indicated that Wutip weakened sooner than expected and thus had no significant effects on the upper part of the Northeast.
