9 Pattaya businesses awarded TAT Thailand Tourism Award

Nine Pattaya businesses have been awarded the Thailand Tourism Award from the Tourism Authority of Thailand for quality and excellence in tourism and hospitality operations.

TAT presented 73 awards for health tourism, tour programs, accommodations, tourist attractions, support and promotion, and innovation. TAT said the awards “demonstrate readiness to support and strengthen Thailand’s tourism industry so that it may compete globally in the future.”

TAT Pattaya office director Auttaphol Wannakij and Deputy Mayor Verawat Khakhay presented the awards to Pattaya recipients Oct. 10 at the Marriott Pattaya Resort & Spa.

Pattaya companies won four “awards of excellence.” They were the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden in the tourist attraction category, Marriott and Dusit Thani for hotel accommodation, and Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for health tourism.

Five other businesses received “awards for outstanding performance.” They were the Sanctuary of Truth and Ripley’s World Pattaya in the tourist attraction category; Siam Bayshore Hotel and Royal Cliff Hotels Group in the accommodations category, and the Tiffany Show Pattaya in the innovation category.

The Marriott was one of the three in Thailand to receive the Hall of Fame award in consecutive years.

Auttaphol said TAT will continue to aggressively market Pattaya, especially to Eastern European and Japanese travelers, through trade shows, road shows and promotions.
