TAT wins 2 PATA Gold Awards

BANGKOK, 4 May 2011  – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has won two awards from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) during an event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Association at Beijing, China. 

TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni disclosed that the TAT won PATA Gold Awards 2011 for ‘Amazing Thailand social networking’ in the Marketing-Primary Government Destination category, and ‘World Thai martial arts and Wai Khru Muay Thai ceremony’ under the Culture category.

Mr Suraphon said the aforementioned awards could guarantee success of the office in preserving Thai cultures as well as promoting domestic tourism through online marketing.

The number of people who like ‘Amazing Thailand’ fan page on Facebook website currently stands over 150,000 people, rising sharply from 7,451 in January 2010.

The governor added that the office has launched ThailandFanclub page for foreign travellers in Twitter as well as Go2Thailand page for Thai tourists. The two pages have so far attracted about 35,000 followers.
