About 1,700 people are expected to receive free eyeglasses, mobility aids and other aid in February when Chonburi conducts its next mobile-government outreach program.

Udomsak Charoenwuth, vice president of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, met with representatives from Pattaya, Banglamung and Laem Chabang Oct. 25 to begin planning the Feb. 21 “Chonburi Cares for Citizens” program at the Banglamung School stadium.

Registration for the government handouts closed Oct. 31. Officials reported that 1,440 people from Pattaya, 131 from Banglamung District and 125 from Laem Chabang had requested aid through Oct. 25.

Already held twice this year, the government outreach event will offer opportunities for residents to receive electrical-equipment repairs, pay car and motorbike taxes, get haircuts, receive advice on agriculture, get pet vaccinations and sterilizations, and buy locally made products and insurance.

The finale of the program will see handouts of crutches, wheelchairs, walkers and canes to the infirm, glasses to those in need, fertilizers, and freshwater fish.
