Thailand, New Zealand to strengthen cooperation and trade

BANGKOK, Nov 20 – Thailand and New Zealand have agreed to double their trade volume by the end of 2020 and enhance bilateral cooperation and investment.

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra met with her New Zealand counterpart John Key and his business community delegation at Government House yesterday.

Ms Yingluck urged the New Zealand private sector to boost their investment in Thailand particularly in food and beverages, information technology, manufacturing, logistics, public health and infrastructure development.

The two leaders witnessed the signing of three memorandums of understanding on tourism cooperation, a letter of intent between the Thai Civil Service Commission and eight higher education institutions in New Zealand, and cooperation between the Thailand Professional Qualification Institute and Auckland University of Technology.

Ms Yingluck expressed appreciation to New Zealand for its successive support under the Mutual Assistance Programme.
