Body believed to be missing Chinese tourist found in Phuket

PHUKET, Nov 22 – A body believed to be that of a missing Chinese tourist was found today, two days after he fell from Cape Promthep, a well-known tourist landmark on Phuket Island.

A speedboat driver reported to the authorities that he found a body floating seven kilometres away from Cape Promthep earlier today. It is believed that to be the body of Gao Yang, a 20-year old Chinese student, as his clothing matched the details given to police by his friends.

Mr Yang, who was holidaying on the Island with three other Chinese exchange students studying in Singapore, accidentally slipped and fell from the cape into the sea along with one of his friends.

Only one of the two was rescued. Yang could not swim. It took the authorities two days searching for his body

The body was taken to the Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket City for an autopsy.
