The Backyard Golf Society
The Backyard boys had a very enjoyable day out at our regular Emerald venue last Friday, Nov. 22. With a couple of long-lost members returning to the post-shirt version of the society we had a full compliment but still managed to get around in less than 4 hours.
Leading the way was Dan ‘the Diet Whiskey Man’, who showed us all the benefit of being the handicap secretary – at least up to recently. His score of 38 points off a ridiculous 32 handicap saw him triumph by 2 over ‘The Quiet Man’. Surely the R & A must intervene soon on Whiskey’s handicap manipulation?
The near-pin went to Andy ‘The Deadliest Catch’ Crabb, one of the long absent members. The skins were won by Don ‘the Divorcer’ with 7, Jimmy ‘2 Stone’ with 4, 2 each to ‘The Quiet Man’, Golden Trowel’s Boyfriend and ‘The Biss’ with 1 rolled over to next week’s game.
The Backyard golf society is a multi-national society that accepts just about anyone, from French Canadians to tartan-wearing Jockonese Picts. You just need to be a PSC card-holder prepared for some hard yakka at the regular football-pool kitty sessions at the Jomtien market bars.
