An unidentified foreigner was severely injured after being hit by a car driven by a Pattaya policeman.

No name, age or nationality could be determined on the victim, who remained unconscious after the Dec. 4 accident at the corner of Naklua Soi 31 and Naklua Road.

Sen. Sgt. Maj. Virat Radomsuk, commander of the crime-suppression unit, was behind the wheel when his gray Toyota hit the pedestrian. Virat claims the victim darted out into traffic and that he tried to avoid hitting him.

Capt. Thittiwat Bunonn said the case is still being investigated and it could not be determined if Virat was guilty of negligence or reckless driving.
